About

Junior Editor-in-Chief, Emily Thornton, depicts the Spartan Post and SPN staff as Adventure Time characters.
Sprouted from the previous print version of the Bixby High School newspaper, The Voice of the Spartans, the journalism department strives to empower student journalists to act independently and report accurate, fair and balanced news of the highest quality and value. Stories reflect common news values of the Spartan Post such as impact, immediacy, proximity, prominence and student interest.
The Spartan Post staff values the transition into media convergence. Media convergence is the most significant development in the news industry in the last century. Convergence is the ability to interchange text with multimedia, broadcast, print, audio and photography. This new form of journalism requires the journalist to be skilled in more than one discipline.
The Bixby High School Journalism Department trains students in all aspects of convergence. These skills are reflected in the Spartan Post. The Journalism Department Adviser is Dee Harris, the Spartan Post Ombudsman.
